What is ftp?
FTP is a method of copying files from your computer to a webserver in order that the content of your website is viewable to everyone on the Internet. Please use the following method to copy files to Skygrace Hosted website.
How do I upload my files to my website?
step1: Open Internet Explorer
step2: Where you normal type website address at the top, type the following ftp://ftpusername@domain.com
step3: You will get a prompt to type your username and password, once you have entered your details, click ok
step4: Click on folder called httpdocs
step5: If this is your first time of loading your file, Delete the contents in the httpdocs folder
step6: Copy the content of your website from your computer to this folder
step7: Once your files are copied, go to www.yourdomain.com view the website
Please note that your Username & Password are the most obvious of details, please note that these details are case sensitive.
Skygrace server supports index.htm, index.html, index.php, index.asp, index.aspx as default homepage
What other methods do I have to upload files to my website?
The other option you have is to download an ftp client from the Internet. The most popular one is wsftp from www.ipswitch.com but there are free copies you can search for on the Internet.
Most of our clients use the steps listed above, but it is up to each webmaster to decide the best method they are comfortable with.
